TERNOPIL

The city of Ternopil dates back to the mid-fourteenth century, when Sopilche, the ancient Ukrainian defence battlements were destroyed, it was at this time the area was occupied by Poland. A castle was constructed on the ruins of Sopilche, however, after various disasters, it was rebuilt as a Palace by Count Korytovsky. Despite a bloody history of wars and destruction, many of the monuments in Ternopil have been preserved.
