ENSEMBLE OF ARMENIAN CATHEDRAL

The Armenians settled in the Virmenska street area in the fourteenth century and tried to recreate the motherland in this strange land. The first instance of this was the church they built, between 1356 and 1363, which is now known as the Armenian Cathedral. Since it's building, Armenian themes have been used in the interior decoration. The cathedral has many other features of interest, including sculptures and artwork dating back amny years. The bell tower, (pictured), was built in 1571. A preserved arcade can be found in the Southern yard with headstones dating back six hundred years.
